SACRED PLACES
Five ceques of the road of the Chinchaysuyo and the first one of the Antisuyo cross the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman. Therefore, many of the places such as Lanlacuyoc, Quispehuara, Chacan or Calispuquio were very important sanctuaries for the Incas, and even today they continue being very important for the Andean population.
Lanlacuyoc
To the west of the road to Pisac, 200 meters before crossing the ravine of Ocucuchayoc there is a prominent rock profusely carved. According to Victor Angles, the name means "playful" or "damaging spirit". The place has rooms and tunnels carved in the heart of the rocks. It is also an important place for the Andean rites. It is believed that it could have a connection with the worship to ancestors.
Quispehuara (Llaullipata)
It is situated on the right side of the high basin of the Saphi river, half kilometer before the country House of Llaullipata. It is a place rich in terraces, some of which the current communities still use. They have carved rock formations, stairs, canals and an Intihuatana.
Chacan
Located one kilometer upstream of Quispehuara. It is a natural bridge joining the two margins of the Chacan river. The name comes after its river (chacan means "bridge"). In this bridge there is a carved entrance leading to a cave from where we find a balcony. At the top we may admire the river.
Calispuquio
It is the name of an old small stream. The road to Pisac crosses it at 700 km from the detour to Suchuna. Near the road we find Chachacomacaja: another huaca of the system of the ceques of the Chinchaysuyo. It is composed by two huge terraces. After crossing the bridge we have to turn and then to the left we can observe another group of terraces that should have been of Calispuquiohuasi. It is said that they were property of Tupac Inca. Three hundred meters beyond we find Calispuquio: another important temple of the ceque mentioned before.
