CIRCUITS
One of the touristic circuits that is gaining more and more importance in the last years is that going by the towns of Maras, Moray and Pichingoto where the salt works are performed.
Likewise, the Pisac - Paucartambo circuit is important. This alternative will let you immerse in the culture and tradition of the Sacred Valley of Incas in order to appreciate the traces of the archaeological richness of the region.
Once in Cusco, you may hire the services of a bus or taxi to go to Pisac, an hour away going by asphalted road.

Keep your eyes wide open since the route landscape is really spectacular.
To reach Paucartambo, you can take a steady road that go deep into the northeast and that is also the auxiliary route to Pisac. This road passes by Huancarani and Huambutío to go down, after four hours of trip and some dust, towards the fertile valley of Paucartambo. Once there, you'll see the reward: a town of strong colonial reminiscences buried deep in the valley at 2.900 m.a.s.l.
The circuit Urcos - Puno buried deep in the mountains of Peru offers beautiful and picturesque towns besides a trip on the highest navigable lake all over the world. Urcos, 45 km away from Cusco following the asphalted road to Puno, is a small town with a beautiful lake where, according to the legend, Húascar threw a big gold bracelet to prevent the Spaniards from taking it.
After a nine-hour trip you'll arrive in Juliaca, the biggest city in Puno, where the unique airport of the department and the railroad station connecting Arequipa, Puno and Cusco operate. To go to Puno, you'll have to go back to Juliaca and follow the asphalted road during another 45 km. Once there, go around the city having previously drunk a "mate de coca" and having had a morning nap to get used to Puno's altitude (3.827 m.a.s.l.), founded at the Titicaca lake banks (the highest navigable lake all over the world).
