HISTORY
Address: Assembly Hall of the University (Main Square).
The Natural History Museum shows geological and paleontological samples
of Cusco and surroundings, as well as representative species of the
local biological diversity. The huge fag of a mastodon is very important
due to its age and size. The museum is displayed in two wide rooms
and has a biologist as a guide. An intensive visit takes half an hour
and allows the visitor to admire the beautiful colonial cloister of
the University. The university San Antonio Abad takes complete care
of it.

Description: Banco Continental bought this large house in 1981 and inaugurated it as a Museum and Cultural Center on June 20th in 1986. It was an Inca palace and the first monastery in the New World. Completely restored, the former Casa Cabrera as it was called after one of its owners, is also the current photographic studio of Martin Chambi. We can admire the camera and some of the furniture which belonged to the photograph of Puno. It also shows, permanently, a large numismatic collection that includes the first minted coins of our country. On the second floor, there is a valuable pinacotheca of the Academy of Cusco with the important anonymous paintings of the club of Diego Quispe Tito. This House has a modern auditorium to perform all kind of cultural events and a gallery for temporal exhibitions. A detailed visit takes 35 minutes.

Address: Calle Maruri #315.
Description: This small Museum is in the place of the old and ostentatious Palace of Tupac Yupanqui, now completely restored. It is part of the Cultural Room. In a small room in front of the fountain and the Bank offices, we find the "Sala de la Ofrenda" (Room of the Offer") where they found, 1.75 meters deep, eleven objects of pottery and ten metal objects.
This place has a wide and nice room for itinerant contemporary art exhibitions and cultural activities.
